Can I return my online purchases to a store for an exchange or refund?

Yes, you can. This is the quickest way of getting your items refunded or exchanged.

You can find your nearest River Island store by using our Store Locator.

Please take the items you’re returning, along with the Despatch Note included in your parcel or your confirmation of despatch email with you as proof of purchase, to any River Island Store within the following countries:

  • United Kingdom (excluding our Jersey and Isle of Man stores)
  • Republic of Ireland
  • The Netherlands
  • Belgium


Unfortunately we cannot accept returns to any of our other international stores.

Without a proof of purchase, you will not be able to receive a refund. You will only be able to receive a credit note to spend in store or an exchange to the current selling price of your items.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept returns in our Jersey and Isle of Man stores.

We are unable to process refunds to your PayPal account at our stores. If you wish your refund to be processed to your PayPal account, you should send your unwanted items to our warehouse using the postal service, courier or Collect+. You are welcome to exchange goods bought via PayPal in our stores as usual.

Items returned to stores in the United Kingdom will be refunded in Pounds Sterling. Items returned to stores in the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands will be refunded in Euros. If you’ve paid for your order using a different currency, you will be refunded in the store’s local currency (Pounds Sterling or Euros) at the current River Island commercial exchange rate.
