At the races with Suls World

The temperature is (finally) hotting up and so is your social calendar. Yes, summer is here. From weddings to garden parties, it’s time to step up your occasion game.

We know it’s not always easy to swap your go-to jeans for fancy threads and come out feeling like you, so we invited some friends of RI to Liverpool’s Style Studio to talk dressing up without selling out.

Here’s what went down when we caught up with Sul from Suls World…
What’s the occasion?
I’m off to the races.

Is there a dress code?
Smart and stylish.

Who are you going with?
Just a few of the boys.

Are you going to place a bet?
Maybe a cheeky one (or two).

What’s your tactic?
Always pick the underdog. That or a horse with the craziest name like Skidoosh!

If you were a racehorse what would your name be?
Super cala fragilistic expialidocious!

What kind of attendee will you be?
The silent assassin who wins or places and you don’t know how he does it.
What’s your major sartorial scare?
Untailored clothes.

Where do you stand on hats?
Personally, I think you’ve got to have it. It helps to complete the look.

If you could choose anything to represent you in a race what would it be?

Ooh that’s tough! I’d pick a tortoise. Slow and steady and all that…

Do you have a funny story to share?
The first time I gambled at a casino I was up by a £500 so I got ahead of myself and ended up being down £500 by the end of the night. Moral of the story, know when to get out and don’t gamble whilst tipsy.

Tell us about your look…

When I think races, I think light colours and tailoring. I’ve gone for a light cream 3-piece linen suit, with a floral shirt because who doesn’t love a floral shirt? I topped it off with some tan suede shoes (I contemplated the blue suede shoes but thought I’d let Elvis rest).
