Making Fashion A Force For Good

We want you to know about some of the stuff we’re doing behind the scenes to make River Island - from handbags and dresses to HQ and beyond - more sustainable. We’re committed to being more green and are making changes  that are good for people and planet alike.

As part of that, we’re sharing our plans with you – so you know that when you shop with us, you’re helping on our journey. We’ve been making a lot of changes already, and we’re proud to share our progress so far, and to give a glimpse of where we’re headed next.

Where are we now?

These are just some of the projects we’ve been working hard on across RI:

 - Zero single-use plastic in our packaging

- 100% green energy in all stores and HQ

- All the cotton in our jeans is responsibly sourced

- 100% responsibly sourced cotton by 2023

Where next?

We’ve come a long way, but there’s still places to go. These are a few of the things we’re aiming for in our next steps.

Water (and less of it).

Over the next few years, we’re going to cut the water used in our manufacture by 50%. We aim to hit this target by 2030.

Zero Waste By 2023.

By next year, we want to be finding a home for all of our waste – and sending NOTHING to landfill.

Giving Everyone A Chance

We are passionate about diversity, and we actively promote the recruitment of candidates from diverse backgrounds.

Net Zero By 2040

This is a big one. We want to be carbon neutral by 2040. We’re working with The Carbon Trust to determine how best to do this, and we’ll keep you updated as we progress towards this goal.

We hope you’ll enjoy all the changes in store, and in our collections, that you’ll see to get us there.
