Eid At Home

Eid Mubarak! The 2nd Eid celebration of the year is fast approaching and Muslims across the world are preparing their celebrations. With lockdown restrictions easing, our fingers are crossed that Eid ul-Adha can be more of a communal celebration than last time. We spoke to friends of RI, Hajra and Ramzan about their plans and what the celebration means to them. Take a look …

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Hajra. I am fashion and lifestyle influencer based in New York and I have just moved to UK.

Why is Eid important to you?

Eid is an amazing religious holiday that allows us to help the less fortunate through donations and charity. It’s also a beautiful day to make sure we connect with family and friends, whilst taking a break from our busy lives.

How will you be celebrating this year?

This is the first year my in-laws will be coming to mine so I’m in charge of the Eid day meal so I’m very nervous.

Have your Eid celebrations changed because of Covid-19?

Oh, definitely I am limiting the amount of people that can come over this year. There will be much fewer than usual which is so sad but hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

What is your favourite part of the Eid celebrations?

The dressing up of course!

Why have you chosen this Eid look?

These looks really represent my aesthetics and style. For Eid, I love dressing up and looking sophisticated.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hey! My name is Ramzan Miah and I am an Actor, Model and Dancer.

Why is Eid important to you?

Eid is important to me because it brings happiness with family and friends. It’s a celebration of nature - trying to be a better person in all aspects (health, spirit, belief and faith)

How will you be celebrating this year?

This year I will be celebrating Eid with my family. Lockdown has been really hard for us however, as things start to ease, I am excited to spend quality time with my aunties and friends.

Have your Eid celebrations changed because of Covid-19?

There has definitely been a difference for sure. I am still following the guidelines as it is important to stay safe at all times. Nevertheless, it is amazing that we can finally see more family faces as Eid is always best to celebrate together! I am also excited to go to the Mosque and pray with all my brothers.

What is your favourite part of the Eid celebrations?

My favourite part of the Eid celebration is waking up early in the morning and going to the mosque with my dad and brothers. Then, getting changed into my nicest and newest clothes. Saying Eid Mubarak to friends and family, sitting together and eating lots of food!

Why have you chosen this Eid look?
I have chosen these looks to form my Eid edit as they all bring a different style and show my personality. There is definitely something for everyone in this range.
