BEHIND THE DESIGN: RIVER ISLAND X SAMIE ELISHI
Say hello to your ultimate summer style insider, Samie Elishi. After joining us on our girls’ getaway to New York, she’s back with her own sun-drenched collection made for every moment of your next warm-weather escape. To celebrate the holiday-ready lineup, we sat down with her to discuss personal style, packing hacks and her first ever collab with RI
How would you describe this collection?
I’d describe the collection as timeless, classy, versatile and gorgeous!
How do you hope people feel when they wear this collection?
When people wear the collection, it’s such a pinch-me moment. More than anything, I hope people feel empowered – like they can walk into any room and feel amazing. The fact that people trust my vision and connect with my style enough to wear it themselves means everything to me.
What was it like collaborating with River Island?
It’s been surreal. I used to go to River Island most days after school, so to have my own collection and even see myself on their website blows my mind. To see my vision come to life is really special.
How would you describe your own personal style?
It’s hard to describe because I feel like I love a bit of everything! Some days I like to be classy and elevated, but then other times I like to be cool and comfy; there’s nothing better than a pair of low-waisted jeans and a comfy top. On holiday, I feel like I thrive more. I love patterns and wearing little tie tops with flowy trousers.
What's the secret to holiday dressing?
Colours and accessories! You want colours that are going to enhance that holiday glow. A pair of nice sunnies, a beach bag and a cool sandal can elevate a simple look in seconds.
What's your number one packing hack?
PACKING CUBES! I can’t emphasise enough how important they are. But if you don’t have these, I would say lay out every single outfit – down to the underwear and socks – and pack them together. Then you can just grab and go while you’re away and avoid overpacking.
What are the items you don't leave the house without?
A pair of sunglasses (no matter the weather), my Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Cream and my phone.
Best advice you've ever been given?
Stop seeking approval from people you don’t know personally.
