In conversation with Lizzy Hadfield

The city is open, awake and ready for anything and that demands a wardrobe to match. RI Studio is back with the ultimate capsule collection: a curation of understated key-pieces and seasonal heroes made with easiness in mind. We chatted to Lizzy Hadfield as she explored her vibrant local hotspots in signature pieces from the collection - each look as understated and effortless as Lizzy herself.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am a fashion influencer, podcaster and author of Things You Can’t Ask Yer Mum living in East London, but hailing from Leeds. I have been sharing my personal style online for over seven years now, and documenting that journey (and the sartorial mistakes involved) has been an incredible experience.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Androgynous, minimal, classic.

What or who inspires your style?

My friends, always! I get most of my clothes recommendations and inspirations from the girls in my life. So often we all show up somewhere all looking like we have (accidentally) dressed to a theme, which always makes me smile.

What do you love most about the latest RI Studio collection?

The outerwear, it’s so chic and at such a great price point too. The coats are so warm and luxurious, and I love the mix of textures - from wool to leather.

What’s your hero piece from the collection?

The long wool coat with the cuffed sleeves. I know how much wear I will get out of this. Also, as a die hard Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, I love the leather trench.

What’s your favourite day-to-night piece from the collection?

The leather trousers, also sticking to my Buffy theme! But they look great with cashmere, and just as good with a silk blouse.

What’s your ideal autumn outfit?

Flat boots (I am a sucker for comfort as I get older), leather trousers, a t-shirt with a knit over the shoulders on those warmer Autumn days, or on a colder day a cashmere knit with a long wool coat.

Talk us through your perfect day in the city.

I am a big reader, and love having a day to myself to go to different cafes with my book. It sort of feels like spending the day being a tourist in your own city, and looking up to do some people watching always makes me fall in love with London more. Then to end the day with friends at one of the incredible pubs in East London!

What do you love the most about the colder months?

The clothes! I find dressing for colder weather so much more fun because of the layering options. I have pieces in my winter wardrobe that I have owned for years and always look forward to wearing whenever the weather allows.
