Behind the Collaboration: Meet Olivia Attwood
To celebrate the launch of her exclusive AW25 collection with River Island, we caught up with Olivia Attwood to chat style, power dressing and the pieces she can’t wait to wear from the collection.
What drew you to this collaboration with River Island?
I’ve shopped at River Island since I was young. There was a store near where I worked, and I used to go in every day and try on all the new bits. RI has just got better and better over the years, and when I saw this collection, I had to be part of it. It’s so me – tailored and fun.
How do you want people to feel when they wear this collection?
Because the pieces are so tailored, they’re really flattering. I want girls to feel confident wearing them, like they know they look good.
How do you balance wearable pieces with statement-making tailoring?
I don’t really go for statement pieces as much these days. I like outfits that I can wear in different ways and make more sustainable. Like my tweed co-ord – I’d wear the blazer with jeans and the skirt with a white top. That way I can mix and match everything.
How do you add glamour to your outfits?
Even though I’m tall girly, I love wearing a great heel. It just elevates the whole look and makes your legs look amazing. And sunnies, 100%.
What does power dressing mean to you?
Power dressing is wearing clothes that make you feel like a bad b*tch – which this collection definitely does. It’s stylish, but also comfortable, and works from day to night.
Tailored silhouettes have become your signature. What’s the key to making power tailoring feel stylish and new for now?
Fit is everything. If clothes don’t fit properly, they won’t flatter you. I say that, but I actually like to size up in blazers (sometimes one or two sizes) to get that oversized look.
How has your approach to fashion changed since your Love Island days?
I used to chase designer logos, and don’t get me wrong, I still love them. But now I dress more for the girls. I used to dress to look sexy, but now, if a girl tells me she loves my outfit, I know it looks good. I don’t care what men think of my clothes (unless they’re gay!).
How do you approach dressing for real life versus the red carpet or TV?
Day to day, I dress for comfort. You’ll usually catch me in a tracksuit or gym gear. But for work, I really plan my week and organise my outfits around what I’ve got going on.
What’s one styling tip you'd give to anyone wanting to feel more confident in what they wear?
Shop my River Island collection – you can’t go wrong!
